INTRODUCTION
 

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Dr. Rachel Gilligan and I have a Mobile Veterinary Home based practice based in Long Beach and northern Orange County, CA. I graduated from New York's Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996, and hold a B.S. in Biochemistry from The State University of New York at Stonybrook 1992. I moved to California in 1997. I worked as an emergency clinician at All Care Animal Referral Center in Fountain Valley. (For those of you who have ever seen "Emergency Vets" on Animal Planet, that's exactly what it was like--just a heck of a lot busier!) My Board Certification in veterinary acupuncture was completed in 1999 through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society.
 

I began a small house call service for routine vaccinations for pets in client's homes on my days off. Eventually, the demand for in home care became so great, I had to sadly say goodbye to my friends and wonderful mentors at All Care and devote my full time job to home veterinary care. I'll always be thankful for the brilliant doctors there who taught me so much about medicine.

I still get to meet wonderful puppies and kittens all the time at their family's home for their yearly vaccines and de-worming. My practice includes care for routine skin infections, flea allergy dermatitis (otherwise known as "Hot Spots"), flea control products, ear infections, mild eye infections, and even many kitties who can make getting them to the vet something like a wild horse round up! My mobile practice does not have the ability to appropriately diagnose and treat sick pets who need to be seen be a veterinarian with a facility capable of blood work, X-rays, and a full nursing staff. These cases are referred by me to such facilities.

I focus my practice on dogs and cats, and occasionally goats and horses. I will refer owners of pot-bellied pigs and exotic pets to veterinary specialists. I work best when I can communicate with your own veterinarian, to form a team-approach that will best serve you and your pet.
